Every so often, the time comes to step up your look. In fact, you could say it comes twice a year: During the spring and fall showings at Fashion Week. Get some designer inspiration for your wardrobe.
Duckie Brown Spring 2010 Men's Collection
I always expect quirky and fun from Duckie Brown. For the spring 2010 collection though, the fun and quirky is the most subdued I've seen from the label. Don't get me wrong, there are interesting pieces like a a pair of shorts with big bow on front, a long sheer tee over a swim suit and shorts that bubbled out on the sides. The color palette is made up mostly of sand and gray tones.

Davidelfin Spring 2010 Men's Collection
For his second show in New York, Spanish designer David Delfin put a simple, graphic and overall exciting collection together. The looks are androgynous, the colors simple and bold, and the ensembles have interesting tailoring details.

Highlights from the DKNY Fall 2008 Collection
For men, the DKNY fall 2008 color palate is essentially gray and black with a splash of orange here and there. Cardigans, blazers and coats are the focus since it is all shown with the same dark denim jean. Each ensemble is also shown with a white shirt and skinny tie. The hot items for fall 2008 are chunky sweaters and cardigans. I am also pleased to see blazers and sport jackets so prevalent.

My Favorite Looks from the Z Zegna Fall 2008 Collection
I am in love with the Z Zegna fall 2008 collection. The tailoring is superb and the rich fabrics in black, gray, navy and ivory hues are sumptuous. Modern Far East looks are combined with references to turn of the century Europe. The Z Zegna fall 2008 collection is romantic, modern and functional all at once.

Highlights From The DKNY Spring 2008 Collection
DKNY has really tapped into the urban way of life. The menswear is easy to wear to work and easy to dress down for a night on the town. That’s the quintessential way of the young urbanite. Fabrics are comfortable and the overall designs are modern, something that DKNY is very adept at doing so consistently from one season to the next. See the highlights of the DKNY spring 2008 collection.

Highlights From The Michael Kors Spring 2008 Collection
Michael Kors has certainly captured the privileged, leisurely life look. Tennis shorts and a white cashmere hoodie under a navy blazer. A white cable-knit v-neck sweater with navy trim under a navy blazer paired with white shorts. But the whole collection didn’t have this kind of predictability. See the highlights from the Michael Kors spring 2008 collection.

Highlights From The Diesel Spring 2008 Collection
My overall impression of the Diesel spring 2008 collection was "are you kidding?" Uninspired and directly ripped off from teen movies of the '80s, I was horrified. Hot pink and white are not something most guys are going to want to wear. And I would venture to say the same about jump suits. See some of these ridiculous looks in my highlights from the Diesel spring 2008 collection.

Highlights From The Z Zegna Spring 2008 Collection
My favorite pieces in the Z Zegna spring 2008 collection were finely tailored jackets and slender pants, wide loose fitting trapeze shorts and shawl collar sweaters. The dominant color palette was simple and elegant--white, creme, blue and black.

Highlights From The Lacoste Spring 2008 Collection
For spring 2008, Lacoste seems more true to itself than in recent collections. It was also more cohesive. There were many variations of polos as you would expect, but also slender cotton trousers, and relaxed shirts and blazers among other things. See the highlights from the Lacoste spring 2008 collection.

Highlights From The Buckler Spring 2008 Collection
Modern, classic and fabulous are words I would use to describe Buckler's spring 2008 collection. There were rock star looks, James Bond looks and urban hipster looks which all meshed well together. Attention to details made simple pieces interesting. Ensembles in Grey, white and black were my favorite.

Highlights From The Duckie Brown Spring 2008 Collection
There are fashion critics who think that Duckie Brown is ahead of the curve and original. I do agree, but when I see oversized gold metallic tees and giant brightly colored floral shirts and pants I have draw the line. Here I have highlighted my favorite pieces. I'll spare you the bizarre.

Highlights From The Perry Ellis Spring '08 Collection
Easy wardrobe classics with modern twists in pale shades of grey and tan paired with white dominated the Perry Ellis spring 2008 collection. Of course there were splashes of color here and there such as a yellow tech jacket along with other pieces in yellow, coral and orange. Overall I appreciated the simplicity of the collection and, for the most part, its wearability.

Highlights From The Nautica Spring 2008 Collection
For spring 2008 Nautica certainly grabbed everyone's attention--not with the clothes mind you, but with a gorgeous array of models. So here we have male perfection showing off the anticipated nautically themed line of clothes. Romantic notions of a privileged life.

Lacoste - Highlights from the Lacoste Fall 2007 Collection
According to Christophe Lemaire, Lacoste's designer, the inspiration for fall 2007 was French film from the '70s. Leisurewear and weekend attire was predominant. Your typical Lacoste polo shirt was nowhere to be found. I'm not sure if I was bored with this collection, but I found myself wanting something more. See some highlights from the show.

Buckler - Highlights from the Buckler Fall 2007 Collection
Buckler always puts on a great show that is somewhat theatrical and never dull. The fall 2007 collection had a strong ‘80s rock ‘n roll influence. Items of most interest were body conscious suits, coats and knits, slim fitting dress shirts with the predominant color palette being black and gray with splashes of red, green, blue and mauve.

Duckie Brown - Highlights from the Duckie Brown Fall 2007 Collection
The Duckie Brown fall 2007 collection maintained its youthful approach to fashion which is what makes the label so endearing. And there always seems to be an element of surprise and a fresh take to fashion which is difficult to achieve these days.

Perry Ellis himself died in 1986 and since then the company has changed hands several times. John Bartlett started off his Spring Summer 2007 show with ensembles soft cool tones. The latter half of the show was about warm neutral tones with splashes of orange or yellow. The collection as a whole was soft, casual and comfortable.

Highlights from the Michael Kors Spring 2009 Collection
Sportswear and Americana are synonymous with Michael Kors, and for his spring 2009 collection he turned out some of his best work. There are amped up country-club classics with turtlenecks, jackets and pants in cobalt blue and bright yellow while trousers are cropped into clam diggers. Black and white prints and solids dominate the spring line up, but with aforementioned infusions of bright color.

Yohji Yamamotos line for Adidas might be considered athletic-wear, but its more like sporty high fashion. This isn't the kind of gear you would actually do anything athletic in considering the price, but rather wear at the country club or wear while kickin' around the city.

Rock and Republic Spring 2009 Men's Collection
The Rock & Republic spring 2009 collection is shown entirely in black and white which makes for a visually striking presentation of the clothes. The collection has an '80s rock and roll sensibility with skinny ties, fitted shirts, slim jackets and skinny pants. This is a great collection for guys who like to dress simply but fashionably.

The spring 2009 collection marks the 20th anniversary of DKNY. Donna Karen herself was there as well as a variety of celebrities. Clearly more attention was put into this collection. The details are more interesting with more of a variety of designs than in previous seasons. These are clothes that DKNY customers will be excited about.

Im not normally that inspired by Lacoste, mainly because its so predictable, which isnt necessarily a bad thing. But for spring 2009, Lacoste seemed fresh. I loved the color palette--think clay tones, blasts of sherbet colors then black and white. The overall feel of the collection was resort-like and sporty.

Highlights from the Rag and Bone Spring 2009 Collection
English mods and rockers are reborn in the the Rag & Bone spring 2009 collection. Theres a dash of Americana Too. This is one of those collections that has a cohesive theme throughout and with every ensemble being strong in its own right, a quality many collections lack. Applause to Marcus Wainwright and David Neville, the English lads behind the label.

Highlights from the Duckie Brown Spring 2009 Collection
One thing is for certain, Duckie Brown never disappoints in terms of getting a strong reaction out of me. The two designers behind the label are no doubt very creative. I often feel their designs are more like wearable art than actual clothes--the graphic details are always interesting. Even with this mind, I am perplexed by the spring 2009 collection.

Highlights from the Perry Ellis Spring 2009 Collection
For Perry Ellis spring 2009, the color palette was very spring-like with the use of lavender, pink, blue and orange with khaki tones throughout. I am particularly glad to see so much use of pink, a color more men should try to wear. The pieces in this collection had their usual all-American quality and the clothes were casual, comfortable and stylish. What more can you ask for?

Highlights From The Calvin Klein Fall 2009 Collection
The Calvin Klein fall 2009 mens collection could be called part futuristic and part 50s Americana. Sleek lines and simple silhouettes are featured, but that is something one expects from the label. There is the occasional punch of color such as a dark teal blue suit that could have walked off the set of Mad Men. Ultra modern pieces like a glossy black trench coat are exciting.

For the Duckie Brown fall 2009 collection, the vision seems to be for a young and fiercely sophisticated sportsman and outdoorsman. Simple silhouettes are made to look modern by accessorizing with big pompom knit hats, oversized bulky scarves and extra high turtlenecks. Black and brown hues are punctuated with blasts of bright orange.

If I didnt know that I was in the midst of Fall Fashion Week I would have thought the Lacoste Fall 2009 collection was a spring collection with spring-like colors represented such as white, yellow, pale grey and blue. There seemed to be more cotton than wool as well.

Highlights From The Nicholas K Fall 2009 Collection
A relatively new label, Nicholas K premiered in spring of 2007 and the designs are casual and masculine but not typical. Fabrics have a slightly distressed look to them and the overall focus seems to be on sweaters, jackets and outerwear. The earthy hues are reminiscent of Indiana Jones. See highlights of the Nicholas K fall 2009 collection here.

Highlights From The Y-3 Fall 2009 Collection
Layering interesting pieces is a key theme for Y-3 fall 2009. Slender jackets and upper pieces are juxtaposed with slouchy pants. Greys and blacks dominate the color palette with accents of blues and green and red. Overall the collection is has a sporty, urban hipster feel which is what I would expect considering it's Adidas.

Highlights From The Lacoste Spring 2010 Collection
Every spring collection by Lacoste makes me want to immediately book a sunny vacation or join a country club. The looks and colors are so fresh, sporty and fun which is what we expect from this classic sportswear label. The spring 2010 show featured lots of white, pale gray and teal blue with the every model wearing an ensemble in bright yellow for the finale. Ultimately what I love about Lacoste is how guys of all ages can wear the designs.

Highlights From The Custo Barcelona Spring 2010 Collection
I remember when Custo Barcelona was just a line of t-shirts with fun designs on them. Now of the Spanish deigner Custo Dalmaus has created a whole line of menswear (and womenswear too), but of course continuing with the colorful fabrics and designs he is known for. Everything shown in the collection is a statement. So if you aren't afraid of making a statement, this label might be for you.

Highlights From The Monarchy Spring 2010 Collection
For spring 2010, Monarchy features trim tailored sport coats, some with piping detail that is reminiscent of traditional British college uniforms. Other key pieces include button down shirts and frayed denim. So in other words, the line is less edgy than usual, but these are clothes that will appeal to the modern guy and how he dresses.
